Competition News

Crumlin Freestyle Kickboxing Club Travelled south to compete in the Tallagh Open VI, We took 3 fighters Taylor, Adam and Thomas, and a spectator along Niall to this event.

There was an excellent turnout for this event and it had some great divisions that suited us going down which meant the fights where evenly matched by grades and height.

Taylor won his first fight in style and in a very hard fought second fight lost by just a single point but it was a very skilful fast fought fight, Taylor also fought in his first light contact bout narrowly missing out but gave a good all round  fight on the day.

Adam fought hard in his fight which went to extra time and then first clear point to win with Adam losing the fight by the narrowest of margins with both giving the fight their all, this was also Adams first fight in a competition.

Thomas lost in his first round and although he tried hard he was beaten after he no longer wished to continue in his fight.

Crumlin Freestyle Kickboxing Club would like to thank it's fighters and spectators for coming along and giving their all at this event and to let them know it is very proud of them for competing and hope they gained some valuable knowledge while also enjoying their fights.

Attendance

Attendance is a vital part of your development, students will need to keep up full attendance in order to grade as it holds a minimum of 5% of a students score towards grading. Any student who has not been to classes for more that 6/8 weeks without letting the club know his/her reason shall be deemed as having left the club. Unless a good reason has been given, therefore opening up a new position to be filled by a new member.

Classes

Our aim in teaching our classes is to help bring out the best in you and help make stronger any weak points for an overall fitness and well being as an individual.

We offer for those who wish it:

· Gradings

Everyone is welcome and treated equally, there will be no bullying of any kind tolerated in our club. We are open to any suggestions anyone may have, don’t be shy - we are here to help you. Even if you don’t wish to compete you are still a valued member of the team.

You can learn:

· Corner skills

· Time keeping

· Scoring

· Judging

· Refereeing

Not all training is about competing, we shall become a stronger team with your help. We will also hold seminars throughout the year, hopefully inviting other styles to come along for a training session to demonstrate their styles, and for us to demonstrate our style.

GRADING

Grading shall only be held when the clubs instructor feels the students are ready to grade. Grading shall be held every 3 / 4 months to green belt then every 6/8 months thereafter. Students will have to pass a set syllabus given to them by their instructor to a good standard.

AWARDS

Awards shall be held throughout the year to those showing good progress. Awards just don’t go to those who are good at some things but also to those who may be weak in some techniques but have worked hard in improving those techniques.

COMPETITIONS

Competitions shall only be for those who wish to compete, and only when the clubs instructor feels that the students are ready to compete so as to be as safe and fun as possible for each student. Competing is not always about winning it’s about learning, taking back with you what you’ve learnt and working hard to reach your own goals.
